Barajas is the name of a district belonging to the city of Madrid, Spain and organized administratively into the neighborhoods of Alameda de Osuna, Airport, Historic Barajas, Rudder and Corralejo.
Madrid-Barajas International Airport is located in the district. It’s the main international airport serving Madrid, Spain. It is the country's largest and busiest airport, the world's tenth busiest airport and Europe's fourth. It opened in 1928, and has grown to be one of the most important aviation centres of Europe. The airport derives its name from the adjacent town of Barajas, which has its own metro station on the same rail line serving the airport.
