About Diagonal Mar, Barcelona

Diagonal Mar is the most recently built neighbourhood of Barcelona. Actually, it’s still under construction.

This new barrio of Barcelona is a very modern area with tall buildings overlooking the deep-blue Mediterranean Sea. It limits with the complex built for the ‘Forum de las Culturas’ (Cultural forum) celebrated in Barcelona in 2004. Nowadays this huge construction is a swimming area without sand (a sort of swimming pool with sea water). Near the Forum there is also a popular shopping centre called Diagonal Mar, whit a huge supermarket, a cinema complex, restaurants and plenty of shops to buy clothes, shoes, watches and practically anything you may need.

A good example of the constructions within Diagonal Mar is the Front Maritim - it’s an area formed by five groups of buildings with gardens in the middle. Behind the Front Maritim there’s an industrial quarter completely restored and turn into modern workshops and designer’s studios.
